A suspected notorious drug dealer in Choma has been arrested following a raid on a local nightclub as part of countrywide targeted operations by the Drug Enforcement Commission-DEC.
DEC Assistant Public Relations Officer, Theresa Mawere, has identified the suspect as Andrew Kabamba, 37, from Choma South.
Mawere notes that Kabamba was found in possession of 43 sachets of Heroin weighing 2.58 grammes and 18 sachets of dry loose Cannabis weighing 32.4 grammes aboard a Starlet motor vehicle bearing registration number ABT 7100.
She states that similar operations on the Copperbelt, Muchinga, Luapula and Central Provinces, also yielded similar results.
In Chinsali, DEC Officers jointly charged and arrested James Kanyika, aged 38 and Bridget Nangogo, 42, for trafficking in 40.1 kilogrammes of dry loose cannabis.
On the Copperbelt, DEC operations resulted in the apprehension of eight individuals for trafficking in over 15 kilogrammes of dry loose cannabis.
In Luapula Province, the Commission conducted an operation along Tuta Road in Samfya District, resulting in the arrest of a juvenile and two other individuals for trafficking in dry loose cannabis weighing 2.8 kilogrammes.
In Central Province, Serenje District, DEC apprehended three individuals for trafficking in dry loose cannabis weighing over two kilogrammes.
