Blantyre City Council bans sale of fresh maize

Sale of fresh maize by vendors in all streets has been banned by Blantyre City Council (BCC).

The ban has been confirmed by Blantyre City Council (BCC) Chief Executive Officer Alfred Chanza in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

“Blantyre City Council wishes to inform the general public especially those that sale green in the City that the sale of green maize whether fresh, cooked or roasted is banned with immediate effect.

“The council is appealing to all green maize vendors to strictly observe this ban,” reads in part the statement.

The council has since warned all vendors who will not adhere to the ban that they will face the law.
