Two Zimbabweans, Zambian Nabbed For Attempting To Steal From Kasungu Social Welfare Office

Two Zimbabweans and a Zambian have been arrested for allegedly attempting to steal 500,000 kwacha cash and valuables from a packed vehicle at Kasungu district social welfare office yesterday.

Central East Police Region spokesperson Harry Namwaza says the suspects opened Victor Nyirenda’s vehicle using a master key, who had just returned from FDH bank to withdraw the cash.

But some community members spotted them and managed to apprehend the Zambian national, Frank Msoni, 45, while the other suspects sped off to Malomo in Ntchisi.

According to Namwaza, a message was relayed to Malomo Police in Ntchisi where a snap police roadblock was mounted to intercept the motor vehicle and the suspected criminals were cornered and they abandoned the car, running for their lives.

Police says members of the community and police managed to arrest the two Tambirayi Zikudzani, and Alfred Phiri, 31.

One person is still at large.
