Police in Nyambadwe, Blantyre have arrested two men for allegedly cultivating cannabis sativa without permission contrary to the Dangerous Drug Act regulations.

Ndilande Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Kelvin Nyirenda has said that the two were arrested yesterday when the law enforcers raided a house belonging to one Grace Mbekeyani where about 50 plants of cannabis were found being cultivated within the premises.  

He has identified the two as Jailosi Bester, 23, of Gamwani village Traditional Authority Kapichi   and Rodgers Mandala, 29, of Nchema village, Traditional Authority Nchema both in Thyolo district who used to work as garden boys at the residence.

The 50 plants of canibis  have since been uprooted  and are expected to be sent to Bvumbwe Research Station for examination as the duo are expected to be taken  to court soon.
