Police in Kawale have arrested a 24 -year-old Edward Lloyd for theft by trick, and recovered plastic chairs worthy K 3,500,000 (Three million five hundred thousand kwacha ).

Kawale Police Spokesperson Sub-inspector Mabvuto Phiri said the suspect who is a resident of Area 23 devised a plan to be hiring plastic chairs in pretence of hosting special events .

Phiri said: “The plan has been working for him that he successfully hired a lot of chairs and never return them to the owners.

“Until on May 6, 2022 some victims of the plot involved area 23 Police unit, detectives acted swiftly and made an arrest and on may 8, 2022 made a recovery of 200 plastic chairs.”

He said the recovered chairs have been identified by three victims including a certain church.

He will appear in court soon to answer charges leveled against him, according to Phiri.

Lloyd hails from Mussa Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka District.
