Tit For Tat: Chikulamayembe Chieftaincy Wrangle In Court Again

Another legal battle in the Chikulamayembe chieftaincy has ensued as the Mtima Gondwe camp has yet again dragged the Bongololo Gondwe camp to court.

A court document seen by this publication shows that the claimants; Group Village Headman Mbawuwo Chilongozi Gondwe and Mtima Gondwe insist that Walter Gondwe, being the direct son to late Paramount chief Chikulamayembe, was the rightful heir to the Chikulamayembe throne under the Tumbuka customary law.

The court has given Bongololo Gondwe and eight other traditional leaders, listed as defendants, to file a defense within 28 days or express their intension not to contest the proceedings within 14 days.

In April this year President Lazarus Chakwera installed Joseph Bongololo Gondwe as Themba la Mathemba Chikulamayembe the 13th.

Since then there has been an endless battle between the two camps.
