One of the social commentators-cum right activist in the country Joshua Chisa Mbele has blasted the endorsement of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as Malawi Congress Party (MCP) torchbearer in the forthcoming 2025 Presidential polls, describing it as a mockery to the party’s constitution.

On Saturday, during Tambala Night Fundraising at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) MCP First Deputy Secretary General Catherine Gotani Hara endorsed Chakwera as MCP’s torchbearer.

The endorsement came barely months after another endorsement by the party’s Second Vice President for the North Harry Mkandawire.

But writing on his official facebook page, Chisa Mbele could not hide his sadness on the matter.

“MCP now is beyond a Circus .It makes mockery of the Party Constitution.

“We, the contemporaries of the Founding Fathers say; This Endorsement at the Party after Eating Indian Curry and Drinking Kadansana is just a silly joke,” Wrote Chisa Mbele.

He added: “Candidature Endorsement can only happen at the Elective Conference with all National Party Structures.

“You guys are failing the country and you can’t even follow Party Constitutional Guidelines.
What happens to other positions? Same route? Nyasi Zenizeni.”

The endorsement has also fueled some cracks in the Tonse Alliance.
