Minibus Owners Want Further Reduction Of Toll Gate Fees

Minibus Owners Association of Malawi (MOAM) have expressed their discontent with the revised toll gate fees in the new gazette regulations.

Effective from Wednesday this week, government has reduced the toll gate fees, this is in accordance with the agreement government made to activist Bon Kalindo that government should consider reducing the fees.

According to a statement signed by Minister of Finance Felix Mlusu Minibuses will be paying K2000 from the initial K3000 whereas light vehicles will be paying K1000 from the initial K2000 at Chingeni Toll Plaza in Ntcheu.

However, MOAM has demanded further reduction of the fees to K500.

MOAM General Secretary Coxley Kamange, insists the fees are still on the higher side.

In his remarks Kalindo while praising government for listening to their demands, has said he is not fully satisfied as he feels like the fees is still high.

According Kalindo, government should consider that toll gate fees should be paid once if the person is returning on the same day.
