MCP Distances Itself From Namiwa’s Alleged Abduction

The ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has trashed Sylvester Namiwa of Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) assertions that the party is involved in his alleged abduction.

Yesterday, Namiwa told the press that some members of the MCP abducted him with an aim of making him call off his anti-Chakwera demonstrations last week.

Responding to Namiwa’s claims, the MCP through its publicity secretary reverend Maurice Munthali said the allegations are baseless, frivolous and misleading.

Their allegations expressly come as utterances smacking of sinister dramatists whose vowed intent is to instill sense of insecurity in this country besides that of denting the party’s image.’’ Said Munthali.

Munthali further called on Namiwa to confide with the Malawi Police Service by providing them with evidence beyond reasonable doubt regarding his alleged abductions story.

According to Munthali, Malawians can no longer trust any single word from Namiwa and his team.
