ACB on MACRA’s neck, halts procurement of Revenue Assurance System

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has stopped the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) from procuring Revenue Assurance System for monitoring operations of telecommunications companies.

This has been confirmed through a letter dated July 22, 2022 signed by ACB Deputy Director General Elia Bodole addressed to MACRA Director General Daud Suleman seen by this publication.

“…the Anti-Corruption Bureau has instituted an investigation in respect of a suspected offence under the Corrupt Practices Act,” reads part of the notice.

Macra spokesperson Zadziko Makhambo has confirmed of the development, saying the authority will not challenge the order.
