Malawi and Zimbabwe are expected to hold a joint business forum on May 26 in Lilongwe to promote trade and investment between the two countries.

Some of the sectors to benefit from the forum are energy, agriculture and agro- processing, education, health, information and communications technology, transportation, real estate and tourism.

Kwengwere: It is a perfect platform

In a statement, Malawi Investment and Trade Centre chief executive officer Paul Kwengwere said the forum will provide a platform for the two countries to engage, explore, network and advocate for ways to shape effective business relations.

He said: “Our counterparts from Zimbabwe are quite interested to understand the opportunities that we have, the procedures that they need to follow to invest in Malawi and also the incentives that we do have for those investing in our country.

“It is a perfect platform for us to market what we have as a country in terms of trade and investment.”

The business forum, which is expected to bring together more than 100 delegates from Malawi and Zimbabwe, will include government-to-business meetings as well as business-to-business meetings.

About 50 delegates from Zimbabwe are expected to attend the forum courtesy of the CEO Africa Roundtable, a grouping of corporate chief and senior executive officers in both private and public sectors in Zimbabwe.
