Federer’s footprint in Malawi

Roger Federer has made a point of sharing his huge earnings through his foundation that he set up to help kids in Switzerland and southern Africa.

The Swiss legend personally visited Malawi this year and shared some wholesome moments with the kids in the various centres.

Federer is set to retire from professional tennis, with the Rod Laver tournament set to be his last.

It is already in the public domain that he will retire as one of the greatest tennis superstars of our generation.

The Rod Laver tournament will be the last professional game for the Swiss legend, who has dominated the game with such skill and composure for nearly two decades.

But, apart from his prowess on the pitch and his business skills, Federer is also a great philanthropist and has not shied away from sharing his vast fortunes with the less fortunate in society.

Earlier this year, Federer visited Malawi where his Roger Federer Foundation is promoting early childhood development in community-based childcare centres.

The foundation aims to provide quality education to the underprivileged children.

During his visit, he interacted with some of the children and caregivers from the over 900 community-based centres where the foundation has made an impact.

Immediately after the visit, Federer took to his Instagram account and said, “Wonderful to see that we are having a real impact on the ground with the Roger Federer Foundation.

“Access to quality early education is crucial as it is the foundation of all learning. I am so happy I made my way to Malawi.”

The foundation was established in 2003, just when Federer was getting into the game. It is predominantly established in Switzerland and southern Africa. It is estimated that Federer has been able to help at least 2 million children so far.
