Dedza is one of the three districts to benefit from a K1.7 billion Strengthening Food and Nutrition Programming in Malawi being implemented by Civil Society Agriculture Network (CisaNet) in partnership with Tilitonse Foundation.

Speaking on Tuesday during a District Executive Committee meeting, CisaNet monitoring and evaluation officer Edwin Munthali said the project seeks to build capacity among civil society organisations (CSOs) to effectively contribute to food and nutrition policy programming in the country.

Munthali: We will train CSOs

He said: “We want to train 10 CSOs from the districts on how to mobilise resources to implement food and nutrition projects.”

Munthali said four out of the 10 CSOs will receive a grant of K50 million to implement nutrition activities to fight malnourishment and improve food and nutrition security in their communities.

Dedza District CSO Network chairperson Stanely Jefutala commended the project, saying many CSOs do not know how to write proposals to mobilise resources or to incorporate rights interventions in their programmes.

Dedza district commissioner Emmanuel Bambe advised CisaNet and Tilitonse Foundation to work with relevant stakeholders to successfully implement the project.

With financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, CisaNet is implementing the project in Dedza, Ntcheu and Nsanje districts.
