Bishop Brighton Malasa is reportedly fired from his position as Bishop for Anglican Diocese of the Upper Shire.

Archbishop of the Central Africa Province Albert Chama announces in a pastoral letter signed by Bishop William Mchombo the Honourary Provisional Secretary and Bishop of Eastern Zambia.

On January 22, Archbishop Chama was in the country meeting with the Anglican Diocesan Standing Committee where the committee presented issues ranging from administration to irregularities that rocked the Upper Shire Diocese under the watch of Bishop Malasa.

The members of the Church including Sam Chilima of St.George Anglican said the decision was long overdue as Malasa’s action put the church in disrepute.

“It is a dream come true. May God be praised. What used to happen put the reputation of the Anglican Church in disrepute. This is good riddance,” said Chilima.

Meanwhile, Malasa has given the church some conditions if he is to leave the post.
