Two suspects, Julius Zgambo (27) and Alfred Zimba (22), have been apprehended by Jenda Police in Mzimba district for illegally cultivating Indian hemp.
The duo was found with a substantial amount of cannabis, with Zgambo having 350 plants and 2 kilograms of loose cannabis, while Zimba had 100 plants in his garden.
According to Macfaren Mseteka, spokesperson for Jenda Police, the suspects failed to produce the necessary permits, leading to their arrest.
They have been charged with cultivating and possessing Indian hemp without a license.
The seized cannabis will be sent to Lunyangwa Research Station in Mzuzu for analysis.
The suspects, from Vibangalala area, Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba district, are facing serious charges. .
