Zambian Woman In Hot Soup For Setting House Ablaze and Killing Husband

Police in Kitwe have detained 38-year-old Chanda Lukonga for the murder of her husband, Kabaso Mwape, after she set their house on fire following a marital dispute.

Mwape, a welder from Ndeke township, was inside the house with their 10-year-old son when the fire started.

The son managed to escape unhurt and helped his severely burnt father out of the house after neighbors alerted them to the fire.

Mwape was rushed to Kitwe Teaching Hospital by neighbors but succumbed to multiple burns on his entire body.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, after a drinking spree led to an argument, and Mwape locked his wife outside before she set the house ablaze around 21:00 hours.

Lukonga surrendered herself to the police and admitted to setting the house on fire.
