Police in Chipata have charged and arrested two Police officers from Mwami Border Police Post for allegedly assaulting a civilian at a bar over the weekend.
Victor Chilumbu, 36 allegedly sustained a swollen eye after he was beaten by officers from Mwami Border Police Post after he complained over their use of derogatory language while relaxing at the named place.
After he was beaten, Chilumbu was then dragged to the police station where he was locked up and it was only later at night that the victim was taken to the clinic.
However, health officials refused to attend to him because police did not issue a medical report since the case was assault.
Eastern Province Acting Deputy Police Commanding Officer, Kennedy Chibwe, has confirmed to Diamond TV that the two police officers have been identified as Constables David Kapwita and Enerst Kapapa who are in detention pending court appearance.
