Youth Empowerment Program Rolled Out in Nsanje

The National Youth Service (NYS) program has targeted 108 youth to start agribusiness and entrepreneurship skills with the amount of K3.5 billion in Nsanje district.

On Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at a District Executive meeting in the district, Gertrude Francisco, the District Youth Officer announced the launch of a new program aimed at empowering young people between the ages of 10-35 in the areas of Traditional Authorities Malemia and Ndamera.

According to Francisco, the program’s first phase will focus on providing skills training to 36 active youth from Malemia and 72 youth from Ndamera who are members of youth clubs.

The goal is to help them become more self-reliant.

The NICE District Civic Education Officer, Kondwani Malunga, also spoke at the meeting and emphasized the importance of the program in encouraging youth to develop skills and become more self-sufficient.

He also urged the youth to be cautious when it comes to loan disbursement and repayment.
