Young leaders empowered to champion non-discrimination in schools

Young school managers in Nkhata Bay have been challenged to champion non-discrimination in their schools.

The young managers that included head boys and head girls from nine primary schools under Chombe education zone on Friday admitted that discriminatory attitudes are rampant in their schools especially towards girls that have been withdrawn from marriages and those that had fallen pregnant.

In an interview head girl for Chombe Primary School Judith Nyirenda said her role is to educate fellow learners against the malpractice.

She said: “indeed, some learners don’t understand that our friends who had gotten pregnant or married need our support so that they don’t feel out of place when admitted back into school.”
