WOMAN DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A passenger has died in a road accident after the vehicle she was traveling in fell into Mnjiri River in Mzimba District.

According to Mzimba Police Spokesperson Peter Botha, the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number MH 6532 Toyota Sienta which was being driven by Ackim Lusale from the direction of Manyamula heading Mzimba Boma and the vehicle had two passengers on board.

Upon arrival at Mnjiri Bridge, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speeding and the vehicle fell into the river.

Botha has identified the deceased as Isabel Manda, a 43-year-old woman who was on her way to Mzimba Boma from Manyamula.

Manda died while receiving treatment at Mzimba District Hospital and she died due to severe head injuries.

Isabel Manda hailed from James Manda Village in Traditional Authority Mzikubola in Mzimba.

Meanwhile, Police in the district are advising drivers to observe speed limits to avoid similar incidents.
