Woman Arrested, Sentenced To 2 Years In Jail For Wearing A See-Through Dress In Public – See Photos

The Rwandan woman sentenced to two years in prison for indecent dressing has received international attention.

Mugabekazi Lilliane, 24, was arrested and charged with public indecency on August 9, 2022, after wearing a revealing dress to a concert by popular French musician Tayc in Kigali.

She was arrested and remanded in jail while she awaited her fate in court.

“She is suspected to have committed public indecency,” the spokesman for the prosecution, Faustin Nkusi, told AFP, following her arrest.

The arrest sparked outrage, but Rwandan government officials supported it, including former justice minister Johnston Busingye.

Lilliane was sentenced to two years in prison by a Rwandan court on Thursday, August 18.
