The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services in the country has warned of heavy flooding in 11 districts of the country.

The warning follows heavy rains that the country started experiencing on December 27, 2023 across the country.

According to the weather department, the districts that will be heavily affected are Mwanza, Zomba, Mulanje, Phalombe, Blantyre, Chikwawa and Nsanje.

But areas such as Rumphi, Karonga, Mzimba and Lilongwe will experience medium impact.

The weather department has since warned the general public to stay alert.
