Communities around Waruma Health Post in Phalombe are urging authorities to expedite the construction of the K12 million facility, which stalled some months ago.

Yanjanani Chilewani is a concerned community member, said she had hoped that project would address the challenges of walking long distance to Mulomba and Mpasa health centres.

Chilewani said this during a media tour organized by the district council to appreciate the progress of World Bank- funded GESD project.

Director of Public Works for Phalombe District Council, Charles Chinkhunda, said the devaluation of the kwacha, besides delayed government funding has affected the timely completion of the project.

He also assured the communities that work will resume once funds are allocated.
