UTM reacts to Chakwera’s action on Chilima

United Transformation Movement (UTM) has said it is saddened by a stand taken by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to withhold all delegated duties to the Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima following his implication in corruption scandal involving well-known businessman Zuneth Sattar.

In a statement signed by UTM spokesperson Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo seen by this publication, the party says will continue supporting Chilima.

“We, as UTM, are shocked and saddened by the turn of events in the past 24 hours, but as a party that has absolute belief and trust in Malawi’s justice system, we have absolute confidence that justice will prevail in the end.

“We are not going to make further comments henceforth until this issues comes to its logical conclusion. We continue our unweaving support and following to our President, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, who led us through all trials and tribulations before and during the campaign period that ushered in the present Government,” said Mwenefumbo.

Meanwhile, Chilima is yet to comment on the matter.
