USAID to recruit 48 temporary health care workers

USAID Malawi through momentum project is planning to recruit 48 temporary health care workers to help fight against cholera outbreak.

Momentum Tiyeni Project Chief of Party Olive Mtema said the contract will be there for four months only and it will be renewable based on situation.

Mtema revealed this in Lilongwe when the organisation was donating 1000 kgs of chlorine to Lilongwe District Health Office – DHO today.

According to Mtema 22 workers have been recruited already at Bwaila hospital and the recruit will cost one Billion Kwacha.

District Medical Officer, Dr. Thokozani Liwewe said despite government recruiting about 20 workers plus those by USAID they still need more, as the cases are on the rise at the institution’s cholera center with more than 140 people admitted.
