A window of opportunity has opened for 18-year-old blossoming film producer Vincent Kamulanje who has been invited to the United States for an Afro-beat music camp.
Kamulanje, who trades under his Vinny Visuals brand, has been invited by US-based entertainment stable, Magic Fingers Entertainment LCC co-owned by US-based Malawian Tionge Mhango and Nigerian music producer Oluwaseyi Shizzi Akerele.
Kamulanje (L): The experience will help me
The young artist will leave on May 30 for the music camp which will be hosted in Atlanta, Georgia under the tutelage of Akarele, who is credited for unearthing other global talents such as Davido and working with other world stars such as Ed Sheeran and Fireboy X.
Part of the communication from Magic Fingers Entertainment LLC reads: “The goal of this camp is to empower young song writers, producers and videographers from around the world by bringing them together to share their creativity and ideas.”
As part of the engagement, Kamulanje will be responsible for filming all the content from the music camp and then he will be attached at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta for two weeks where he will have first-hand experience to learn film production.
Mhango said from the US: “He is very talented in film production and I want to help him grow. The exposure he will get is crucial.”
Reacting to the development, Kamulanje said he was looking forward to the experience as it will accord him an opportunity to sharpen his directing skills and improve his professional understanding of filmmaking.
“It is not every day that you get opportunities such as these. The experience will help me to get a new outlook on how this art can be approached. Any new expertise that one gets in his craft is a plus and certainly this will help the Malawian film industry,” he said.
The filmmaker will travel with voice recorder Precious Botolo, gaffers Chifundo Makuta and Richard Mvinda, production managers Jeremiah Mnelemba and Afila Ajusu.
Also making the trip will be cinematographers Ernerst Dickson Phiri, Calvin Benson, make-up and design artists Mirriam Navicha and Ellen Njawala.
Kamulanje has worked with artists such as Eli Njuchi, Piksy, Ritaa, Zani Challe, Tay Grin, Sangie, Fredokiss, Tay Grin and Patience Namadingo.
Magic Fingers Entertainment LCC are not new to Malawi as they also signed another Malawi music prodigy Med C in a K10 million deal last year.
