UNIMA faces accommodation challenges

The University of Malawi (Unima), formerly known as Chancellor College has revealed that the institution is faced with accommodation challenges as 10, 000 students expected to start in March this year.

UNIMA Vice-Chancellor Samson Sajidu revealed this when management appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament.

It is said that Unima has a teaching space of 2,500 students and the hostel space of 1,200 students yet the institution enrolled 10,000 students.

According to Unima Vice-Chancellor Samson Sajidu, this is very serious issue due to the limited space of the university.

Sajidu also expressed his worry saying a number of students are living outside the campus which is inappropriate to them.
