Under14 MK Academy Football Player Dies After Being Electrocuted In Mzuzu

The Football fraternity is mourning the death of a Mzuzu based under 14 MK Academy football player who got electrocuted after stepping on a fallen ESCOM live wire in the city.
Spokesperson for Mzuzu Police, Paul Tembo has confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Daniel Kapira aged 12, who until his death was a player for MK Academy in Mzuzu Nthanda Under 14 League.
According to Tembo, Daniel met his fate yesterday when he was escorting one of his colleagues to check on the just-released MANEB Primary School examination results at Ching’ambo Primary School in Mzuzu.
Tragically, while returning, they unknowingly approached an area with an Escom pole, where Daniel and one of his friends accidentally came into contact with the live wire, resulting in a fatal electric shock.
Despite immediate efforts, Daniel could not be revived and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Meanwhile Football Association of Malawi  through its Facebook page has sent condolences to Daniels’ family and the entire fraternity.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire bereaved family. May the Lord’s solace provide them strength and comfort in coping with this tragic loss”.
