UDF pulls out of an alliance with DPP

The United Democratic Front (UDF) has pulled out an alliance with the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which is currently being headed by former President Peter Mutharika.

Newly appointed UDF President Lilian Patel disclosed this during a media briefing held in Naperi Township in Blantyre.

According to Patel, UDF is now a standalone party.

On his part, UDF Secretary General Kandi Padambo said the electoral alliance between UDF and DPP ended after they lost in the 2020 fresh presidential election.

DPP is yet to comment on the matter.
