Two male teachers at a school in Kitwe, Zambia got into a physical altercation that left them both with bleeding nostrils.
The fight started after one teacher made demeaning remarks about the other’s union membership while they were in the staffroom.
The insulted teacher controlled himself, but his colleague continued to mock him, leading to a slap across the face and a full-blown fistfight.
The two teachers tore their pants and even chased each other outside the school grounds, with a group of students following them. Eventually, drivers and conductors at the Bulangililo Market intervened to stop the fight.
The incident has disappointed head teachers who have warned teachers against unnecessary debates about unions and grants.
