Two human traffickers handed 7 years jail sentence

The Mangochi Senior Resident Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced two men to seven and three years imprisonment with hard labour respectively for human trafficking.

The convicts are identifed as 43 year old Mpandileni Kassim and 19 year old Suman Sabiti who is a Mozambican national.

State prosecutor Amos Mwase told the court that last week, Sabiti came to Malawi in search of farm workers to work in Mozambique and he met Kassim who helped him find children aged between 11 and 16.

But the two were intercepted by police at Chiponda border as they tried to exit the country and they were arrested.
