Two DPP councilors join MCP

Two Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)-elected Councillors in Phalombe district have defected to the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

The two, Felix Blair Jumbe and Fedison Thomas announced their defection over the weekend.

The two said they expressed a desire to collaborate with a party that is focused on development and promoting tolerance among its members.

Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu, who doubles as the MCP campaign director, said the move reflects leaders’ commitment to working with a party aligned with development goals.

DPP is yet to comment on the matter.
