Two Brothers in Custody for Taxi Robberies

Mzimba Police Station is holding Blessings and Chimwemwe Chiumia, 22-year-old brothers, in custody for robbing passengers in Nkhata Bay, Rumphi, Mzimba, and Mzuzu City.

The brothers would childlock the doors of their taxi and rob passengers on various roads.

They were arrested at a Police roadblock in Mzimba after a passenger filed a complaint of theft.

The passenger was robbed of K35,000 and a Techno Spark 4 phone.

Police have recovered two cellphones and two purses and are searching for another suspect, Bwito, who fled during the arrest.

The Chiumia brothers will face robbery charges in court. Police advise caution when boarding taxis.

The brothers are from Chigwere Village in Mzimba District.
