Police in Chikwawa are keeping behind bars Richard Ligodo, 36, and Frank Ellias, 42, for allegedly stealing the irrigation hose pipes and sprinklers at the Illovo sugarcane field valued at K798,000.00.

The Police received a report about a series of theft involving irrigation equipment that occured during the night of 18 and 19 June 2023.

According to constable Chancy Mfune deputy PR at Chikwawa Police Station said In a prompt response, the Chikwawa police detectives launched an intelligence driven operation that successfully led to the arrest of Ligodo and Ellias.

“At present, the suspects are in custody and investigations are underway for further arrests,”Mfune adds.

Both Richard Ligodo and Frank Ellias hail from Kabayi Village, Traditional Authority Mphuka in Thyolo District.
