Three Police Officers Injured At Bua ADMARC Depot Fracas

Three police officers and a civilian have been injured following a fracas that erupted at Bua Admarc depot in the area of Traditional Authority Mphonde in the Lakeshore district of Nkhotakota.

Public Relations Officer Paul Malimwe says some people who wanted to buy maize at the depot pounced on law enforcers after a bullet accidentally landed on the said civilian’s leg.

He reportedly had attempted to confiscate an officer’s rifle, who was trying to stop vendors from buying maize at the depot.

According to Malimwe, the four are currently at Nkhotakota District Hospital for treatment.

An eyewitness told the press that the angry community members went further to also damage Mpondagaga Police Listening Unit in the area.

Malimwe, who did not disclose the names of the injured police officers and the civilian, says meanwhile, order has been restored.
