Unknown thieves have killed a watchman at Woodpecker Castel Distributor at Kaphiri in Lilongwe before going away with three laptops, a vehicle and money amounting to MK K800,000.
Police in Lilongwe have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
According to information at hand, the murder and robbery incident happened in the wee hours of Friday, 1, 2022.
“Facts are that on the said date and time, criminals went to Woodpecker Distributors office at Kaphiri where the criminals attacked the watchman in his room and killed him using a blunt object which they used to hit him on the head.
“They then proceeded and broke into the office and stole money amounting to K800,000 cash, one motor vehicle 2tonner Hino registration number CK 7562 with red front and silver colour van, three laptops( one Hp and one dell), CCTV monitor and it’s recorder. The van was loaded with 208 beers and mineral crates. Usually, drivers leave car keys in the vehicles. Total value of the stolen items will be advised later,” reads in part the police report.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased watchman has been taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) for postmortem.
