US-based women’s football star Temwa Chawinga on Saturday night opened her scoring account in the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
The Scorchers forward scored the third goal for her team Kansas City Current in their 4-2 victory over Angel City FC in Kansas City.

It was Kansas’ third straight win and they top the table with nine points followed by Chicago Red Stars who trail them by two points from the same number of games.
In a match monitored on Kansas City Current TV, Temwa was also the architect of the first goal when she found Vanessa Di Bernado with a pass that oozed class for the latter to draw first blood with a simple connection in the sixth minute.
In an interview yesterday, the 25-year-old prolific forward said she could not hide her excitement after getting on the score sheet.
Said the 2023 world football top scorer: “This was my third game and I made it a point that I should score and it happened.
“Obviously, I am excited because it takes some pressure off my shoulders. Hopefully, it’s the beginning of good things to come.
“That we are top of the league makes it even more sweet.
