Police in Nkhotakota are keeping in custody an 18 year old man Mphatso Phiri for breaking into the house of Mable Chikaphonya and went away with 2 smart cellphones, 3 Bluetooth speakers and amplifier. All valued to K400,000.
This occurred on the night of July 2, 2022, at Mgomba village near St Paul’s Catholic church.
It is reported that, on June 3, 2022, the complainant was fast asleep and when she woke up the following morning, she discovered that her house got broken and the fore mentioned items are missing.
She reported the matter to Nkhotakota Police station and investigations led to the arrest of Mphatso Phiri who voluntarily admitted to have committed the offence.
Currently, police have recovered two cellphones and investigations are underway to recover the remaining items.
Phiri will appear before court of law soon to answer the charge of burglary and theft.
He hails from Mgomba village in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.
