An 18-year-old girl has committed suicide in Chiradzulu after her parents disapproved her relationship.

Chiradzulu Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Innocent Moses has identified the deceased as Ireen Chauluka of Nangulama Village, Traditional Authority Nkalo in the district who hanged herself behind their house yesterday.

“On this particular day the deceased went out to meet her boyfriend and on her return back, she was heavily reprimanded by her parents. The girl was then found hanging on a tree behind their house,” he said.

Medical postmortem has revealed that the girl died due to suffocation.
