The Kasungu District Education office has said a lot of teachers are refusing posting to rural areas of the district saying they prefer working in the urban.
This was revealed on Monday during education stakeholders meeting.
According to Director of Education, Youth and Sports Dorothy Masudi said most of them are female teachers who complains the post saying they are following their husbands or have health problems that need them to be close to a district hospital.
In addition to that, Masudi feels this is worrisome because rural learners also have a right to education and presence of teachers one the key factors for the realization of their dreams.
Kasungu District Education Network Chair, Clifford Kachali said the office must implement the education strategy for even allocation of teachers in the district.
