A 38-year-old man has been shot at FAGO, Maoni industrial Area during mid-night hours of 6-7 July 2022 in Blantyre district.

Reports say the man identified as Kondwani from Madulira village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kapeni was fond of stealing small and huge items either from people’s houses or companies.

According to the source, Kondwani did not sleep at his house on the night of the incident and as usual his relatives thought he had gone for a drinking joint since he sometimes takes strong drinks.

“We just received a message that Kondwani is dead because he did not sustain to the injuries he got from the shot at FAGO (Kudzitsulo),”the source said.

She added, ”I believe Kondwani went there to steal, what was he doing there at that hour of the night more especially at the protected area like FAGO where security people are scattered all over the place.”

She explained that people in the area believes that the deceased was shot while trying to escape from the security patrols at the place.

“His nephew experienced the same fate last year when he was trying to steal from the same Industry,” she concluded.

Burial will take place on 8th July at Mulenga village, Miyanga in Thyolo district.
