An angry mob in Chiradzulu has beaten to death a 26 year old man Mike Tambala suspected of being a thief, police confirmed.

According to reports, it was suspected that Tambala was stealing cattle.

It is said that Tambala was caught stealing at Luwala village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Mpunga, his attempts to run from the angry mob proved futile as the mob descended on him with mighty.

After the mob confirmed that he had died, they dumped his body at Namitambo police station in the district.

An uncle to the deceased, George Mapondo claimed that Tambala was among other four suspects who are on the run.

Police have asked for more time before revealing any further details.
