An angry mob from Goliati in Thyolo district has this morning killed a suspected tomato thief which police have identified as Davie Tepeka, 35.

Thyolo deputy police publicist, Rabecca Kashoti, says the slain suspect was caught by the owner, Yamikani Kabudula, 23, while stealing the tomatoes at Mpasu village, Senior Chief Chimaliro in the district.

She added that the mob hacked him severely in the head before taking him to Goliati police unit before officers rushed with him to Chisoka health centre where he died while receiving treatment.

Police say they are hunting the mob.
