Suspected thief beaten to death in Salima

An angry mob has killed a man, 37, on suspicion that he was a cattle rustler in the Eastern District of Salima.

Police spokesperson, Jacob Khembo, has identified the deceased as Matchona Selenje from Mtolongo Village in Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe District.

Khembo told the press that the deceased and his two colleagues went to steal cattle from Chimombo Village within Nakondwa location last night and the owner of the cattle noticed them after they entered into the kraal.

He said that the owner shouted for help and villagers started chasing them where in the process, Selenje was caught and assaulted to death while his friends managed to run away.
