Police in the capital Lilongwe have arrested one person suspected to have a hand in the break-in that happened at the office of the Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima few months ago.
Lingazi Police officials have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi and identified the suspect as Mussa Black from Chitete Village, Traditional Authority Mpando in Ntcheu District.
The law enforcers have also arrested Nevers Lunga suspected of buying the stolen items.
“Reference to the series of B/I/B/C/F/There in which were occurring within Capital Hill campus starting from the month of February,2024 to 17th March, 2024 whereby the unknown criminals were breaking offices and went away with Desktop computers, Plasma Screens, dismantling Rams and Hard drives from CPU’s, removing CCTV cameras, Lingadzi Police registered six breaking offences starting from the office of the Vice president, Accountant General, Finance, Local government, Economic planning and Ministry of health.
“In these ministry buildings, unknown criminals broke back doors and windows and stole assorted electronic gadgets including removing Hard drives and Ram’s from CPU’s,” reads part of the report.
The law enforcers have since managed to recover two all in one HP computers,five hard drives, 11 Rams,Computer cables, and one complete set of HP computers.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
