Sunbird Tourism plc on Saturday hosted a wedding expo at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre where various wedding service providers exhibited their products and met prospective customers.
In an interview, Sunbird Tourism plc head of sales, marketing and distribution Temwa Kanjadza said they decided to host the expo to provide a platform for wedding service providers to showcase their products to couples that are planning to get married.

“As a leading hospitality service provider, we believe it is key to provide such platforms for all our wedding and events related service providers, and bring together buyers with exhibitors to ensure a thriving industry which has a significant impact on hospitality service such as weddings and events,” she said.
One of the exhibitors, Chimmar’s Confectionery owner Chimmar Munthali said the expo was an opportunity as it helped them to be known by customers. She said it was an eye-opener where they learnedsome skills from other industries involved in cake provision.
On her part, Fatima Chaguluka, a wedding planner, said since wedding planning is a new service in Malawi, the expo will make her service to be known.
“We are involved in coordinating and planning on behalf of a couple to reduce pressure,” she said.
Damian Mauambeta, who came with his partner, commended Sunbird for organising the expo. “We came to appreciate the products as we are preparing for our wedding and it is amazing to see top-notch products by local providers,” he said.
