TNM plc, sponsors of the TNM Super League, and Super League of Malawi (Sulom) have agreed a new deal and are set to unveil an improved package tomorrow.

This follows lengthy negotiations between the two parties.

Sulom president Colonel Gilbert Mittawa and TNM brand and communications manager Limbani Nsapato confirmed the development in separate interviews yesterday, but could not be drawn to disclose the details, saying that will be done at the unveiling ceremony scheduled for Blantyre.

Said Mittawa: “The sponsorship unveiling ceremony will include a street parade which will be followed by a press briefing and that is where all details relating to the new deal will be revealed.

“Otherwise, we are so excited and looking forward to the big news that will help change the face of the game.”

On the other hand, Nsapato they were working on the logistics of the event.

However, a well-placed source confided in The Nation that the package, which was at K150 million per season, has been more than tripled while the champions’ prize money, which was at K40 million, has also been more than doubled.

During last season’s prize giving ceremony, the mobile network service provider’s chief executive officer Michel Hebert hinted at trippling the sponsorship package.

FCB Nyasa Bullets are the reigning champions and have won the flagship league for five consecutive seasons.

The package includes K10 million subvention for each of the 16 teams and individual and team awards.
