As modernisation continues to take root in Malawi, the country has witnessed a number of breakthroughs and the introduction of service-offering institutions which previously were a far-fetched dream to set up. The market has responded to the increasing demand of such services, with the arrival of Studio 63 Health and Beauty Spa. Our Staff Reporter BRIAN ITAI caught up with owner of Studio 63 health and Beauty Spa Fatra Kawinga Mia. Excerpts.

: Share with us what Studio 63 Health and Spa is all about?

:Studio 63 is a modern state-of-the-art wellness and spa centre that will open in Nyambadwe, Blantyre on July 12. It is a first-of-its-kind set-up in Malawi that will offer wellness and spa services under one roof. The centre is set up in a friendly environment surrounded by nature to offer serenity to our clients.

: What are the reasons behind the establishment of this facility?
A
:Studio 63 has been founded and inspired by our world to have a holistic approach to life. Beauty and wellness i.e. relaxation through massage, fitness, body spa, and mindfulness are mutually inclusive. Beauty builds self-confidence, self-love and when coupled with relaxation, mindfulness, it promotes good physical and mental health.

:What is coming along with the unveiling of this facility?
A
:In order to better fulfil what we believe in at Studio 63, we have partnered with Dercia Josue, who is a finalist for Miss Universe Africa 2022. The values of Miss Universe Africa Beauty Pageant resonate with what we believe in at Studio 63 which is to allow women to show their potential and beauty. Miss Universe Africa celebrates married, divorced and the widowed. Dercia Josue is a great entrepreneur with strong passion for beauty, wellness and health, and as finalist of Miss Universe Africa, she is the best ambassador to associate and partner with Studio 63 as we strive to fulfil our core community values and also offer best services.

:When is she expected in Malawi and what are some of the tasks she will undertake?
A
:Dercia is coming to Malawi on 12th July to grace the official opening of Studio 63 scheduled mid-July. Besides, Dercia Josue is also expected to do charity work around mental health, wellness, sexual and reproductive health and rights during her visit to Malawi. She is an established entrepreneur, lecturer and beauty therapist who has a passion for beauty, hair, fashion, fitness and health which has fueled and directed her business to help empower women and give back making the world a beautiful place, one person at a time.

:How else are you planning to make use of the visit by the Miss Universe Africa to Malawi?
A
:Dercia will visit some of the local organisations working to address issues of mental health, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The visits aims at encouraging women from different socio-economic statuses and also aims to uplift the profile of the organisation. n
