Student Convicted for Stealing Three-Day-Old Baby from Hospital to Replace Lost Child

A court in Ndola has convicted a student of stealing a three-day-old baby from a woman at the Ndola Teaching Hospital last year.

Sofia Kabila, 29, of Chipulukusu Township, was charged with child stealing after she took the baby belonging to Susan Kayambo, 32, a housewife.

According to the prosecution, Kabila stole the baby because she wanted to replace the child she had lost six months into her pregnancy due to a miscarriage.

The Magistrate found her guilty and convicted her of the crime.
