The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has warned Nigerians against eating “bush meat” and interacting with “Rodents” to prevent spreading of the “Monkeypox virus”, PUNCH reports.
According to PUNCH, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development made this warning in a statement issued to the “PUNCH HealthWise” on Wednesday, 1st June 2022. The statement was signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (Dr. Mohammad Abubakar), said that the ministry is much concerned about the outbreak of the “Monkeypox virus” in the country, and it is doing everything possible to prevent it.
Mohammad Abubakar said that the ministry of agriculture is collaborating with other relevant agencies in order to bring the situation under control.
The ministry also urged Nigerians to avoid contact with persons believed to be infected with “Monkey Pox”, even at homes and in workplaces. This is as the ministry ordered “Hunters” and dealers of “Bushmeat” to desist from such practice in order to prevent any possibility of “Moneypox” outbreak in the country.
